About

The Puma Press is produced from the efforts of Northridge Academy student journalists. The team of students, known as the News Crew, research and write the stories and articles. They also find or take the photos. News Crew meets weekly as a club, so stringer reporters can contribute even though they are not in the Journalism class. Librarian Mr. Kent is the teacher/advisor and Mr. Thomas, the school climate coach consults.
Puma Press started in the fall of ’23 by Mr. Kent with the recruitment of his founding team -Sean Hunt, Kailey Trujillo and Casey Teramoto. Kent’s goal in starting the program was to bring more news literacy to Pumas. It was boosted by a fellowship from Cal Matters that gave the initial start-up the resources and strategies to launch.
The Puma Press newsroom welcomes public contributions. Send us your stories, photos, news and information to: [email protected]
