New club alert!
“Page to Screen” is the name for a new club where you can watch your favorite books get turned into movies. There are after school meetings every Wednesday in the library from 4:00-5:00 p.m. There is pizza at the meetings. The club is sponsored by Ms. Gill and co-sponsored by Mr. Kent.
Books have been turned into movies for the longest time. Many of the Disney movies you might have watched growing up are based on old children’s fairy tales. Though movies often tend to be different from books, the main idea and story line is often still derived from them. All the books they read, we will also watch the movie adaptations of them. If a book has multiple movie adaptations, members will vote on which one they like the most.
Currently, club members are reading the 2012 novel “Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes which was adapted into a movie in 2016 starring Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke. It is a romance novel that follows the life of Louisa “Lou” Clark, a young woman who loses her job and gets a new job as a caretaker for Will Traynor, a wealthy man who was left paralyzed and bitter after a horrible accident. As of now, no one can join the club since they have already started reading the novel. People are welcome to join once they start reading the next novel.
The next novel that we will be reading is the classic 1868 novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott. This book follows the lives of the four March sisters-Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy- as they grow from children to women during the Civil War era. See Ms. Gill or Mr. Kent for more information about the club.
