This year, the Club Rush was special. It lasted for two days, which made the presentations brighter, the chanting louder, and the interest doubled. Even though the representatives were only given five minutes to prepare their tables, they did their job wonderfully. This event is for students to share their interests and unite. Clubs of many categories had showcases: art, community, self-expression, religion, and determination. Not to mention that by joining those, students can create a richer social life or boost their college applications.

Northridge Academy High School welcomes a lot of new and returning clubs with enthusiastic intentions and plans.  While the already existing clubs showed themselves incredibly, a lot of newcomers attracted big numbers of people as well.

Some of the new clubs are the Book Club, Dice & Monsters, AAPI, TI Coding Club and Nat’s Arts Honor Society. Each of them have different passions, energies, and goals. As always, to be a member of any of

those, students have to attend each on their assigned days.

Dice & Monsters is a bold and charismatic club with a huge number of already attending students. They meet every Thursday at lunch, and its a safe space for the NAHS students to have a fun time with their friends, play various board games, and to just find a safe space. They also meet every Thursday after school for sessions of D&D, and every student who is interested is welcome there. The only requirements are for them to have a YMCA form filled out, and to have their characters ready.

The Book Club is another very extraordinary and passionate club. The students there do not just read books, but have deep and thoughtful conversations about them every Tuesday at lunch. It is a safe space for everyone’s expression of ideas. This club’s goals are to expand the NAHS’ literacy, as well as to show the students that literature can be, and is, fun and fascinating.

Another club that helps the students find themselves in new areas is the TI Coding Club. The club gives the opportunity to learn how to code in Python – a new and easy coding language, with less words and more possibilities, from a timer to a moving machine. In this particular club students are going to be able write code in something unusual – calculators. Sounds funky, but it is the truth. They meet every Friday at 7:30 A.M., which is – yes – after school. But it is worth your try.

AAPI Club (Leah Azhimova)

NAHS also welcomes another newcomer that embraces awareness about Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, or AAPI for short. They meet every Wednesday at lunch, and it is a safe space for students who are interested in the culture, as well as its representatives. The club focuses on celebrating diversity and raising awareness in the school. And for students who want to prove their art skills, complete, and meet new talented artists of our school we welcome the National Arts Honor Society club. Every Monday they meet during lunch. It is a space for students who want to raise awareness about their outstanding ability in visual arts, while also fostering their scholarship, character, and service through artistic activities.

From all that is known, this year is going to be a refreshing one for second, third, and fourth ears, as well as new experiences for the NAHS’ first years. The new clubs provide new possibilities for out school’s students to express themselves, their ideas, and their passion, and to find themselves in the big world by learning something new, as well as practicing already known activities.
