Every year, when you walk into classes, you may notice new teachers or even different teachers moving into other positions within the school. As school started, it was the first day for multiple students, but also for teachers who are just starting here. The new teachers who started here last month are Linden East, Susanna Kim, Anthony Lopez, and Peter Mparmperis.
Mr. East and Mr. Lopez both just began teaching, barely getting their credentials last year. Lopez’s room is located on the third floor, Room 320. His hobbies include playing different instruments, exercising, and gaming. He’s proud of his Mexican descent and also goes by a self-love philosophy. He is currently one of the new math teachers, teaching statistics and geometry. East’s room is located on the second floor, Room 221. So far, East has expressed interest in starting some sort of theatre class or program here at Northridge Academy in the future. He also teaches English, having only 10th-grade classes.
Ms. Kim and Mr. Mparmperis have both worked in different schools, with Kim working longer as a teacher. Kim has been an educator for 20 years, ten of those years working at Nobel Charter Middle School. During the last six years working there, she was a math and science teacher. Finally, Kim decided it was time to teach high school as a stepping stone in her career, teaching Algebra 1. Her room is located on the third floor, Room 323. Her hobbies include reading, running, cooking, and road tripping.
Mparmperis is a new social studies teacher, teaching Government and Psychology. (The Mp is silent and the B replace both in pronunciation.) His room is located on the second floor, Room 229. He used to teach at Panorama High School, but transferred over to NAHS after two years of working there. His hobbies include Dungeons and Dragons, playing card games, video games, and traveling. He is also the sponsor for the new Dice and Monsters club that meets every Thursday in Room 229.
NAHS is also welcoming a new office tech taking over the reception desk, Ramelle Wiggins. Wiggins has worked 12 years with LAUSD, her past schools being Cleveland, Reseda, and Fairfax High School. Her hobbies include walking, volleyball, swimming, and aerobics.
NAHS welcomes all the new staff members, and all the Pumas hope they have a great time here.
